Government launches Quad scholarship program for techies

Quad scholarships will help students pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering degree at a Government of India-funded technical institution. This initiative shows India’s commitment to building strong relationships with its partners and developing future leaders in science and technology. The recent announcement highlights the growth of the Quad Infrastructure Fellowships, which have already provided over 1,300 fellowships since they began at last year’s Summit.

India has launched a new program to offer fifty Quad scholarships, worth $500,000, for students from the Indo-Pacific region. These scholarships will help students pursue a four-year undergraduate engineering degree at a Government of India-funded technical institution. This initiative shows India’s commitment to building strong relationships with its partners and developing future leaders in science and technology.

The Quad, which includes India, the United States, Japan, and Australia, has been working to improve cooperation among its member countries. The recent announcement highlights the growth of the Quad Infrastructure Fellowships, which have already provided over 1,300 fellowships since they began at last year’s Summit. These fellowships aim to support experts in various fields, helping them gain important skills and knowledge.

The declaration about this initiative emphasizes the Quad’s goal of creating lasting connections among its people. “Through the Quad Fellowship, we are building a network of the next generation of science, technology, and policy leaders,” it stated. This program is not just about education; it is about fostering teamwork among future professionals who can solve global challenges together.

Along with the scholarships, the Government of Japan is supporting the program by allowing Quad Fellows to study in Japan. This partnership expands the program’s reach, making it possible for students from ASEAN countries to join for the first time. Including these countries shows a broader vision for the Quad Fellowship, focusing on the importance of regional cooperation in education and professional development.

The Quad Fellowship has also received support from private companies, including well-known names like Google, the Pratt Foundation, and Western Digital. Their involvement highlights the importance of teamwork between the public and private sectors in promoting educational programs that lead to significant advancements in technology and policy.

This scholarship program not only represents a financial investment in education but also shows a strong commitment to building a skilled workforce in the Indo-Pacific region. By empowering young engineers with the knowledge and tools they need, India and its Quad partners aim to develop leaders who can contribute positively to their communities and beyond.

In conclusion, the introduction of the $500,000 Quad scholarship initiative marks an important step in promoting educational ties in the Indo-Pacific region. By investing in the next generation of engineers, India and its partners are paving the way for a collaborative future where science and technology can thrive, benefiting not only the participating countries but the global community as a whole.
